Ong, Griffons finish second at MIAA Women’s Golf Fall Preview

riggertMissouriWesternWARRENSBURG, Mo. – Missouri Western sophomore Shi Qing Ong continues her unpreceded start to the season as she shot a program record 69 in the second round of the MIAA Women’s Golf Fall Preview at Mules National Golf Club.

Ong would shot a 144 to finish second overall, falling in a one hole playoff. Missouri Western finished runner-up in the sixteen team tournament with a 617.

Jenna Kosmatka finished in tenth place for the Griffons after shooting a season best 153; it was also her first top ten finish as a Griffon. Madison Romjue, after dropping four strokes from day one, finished tied for fourteenth with a score of 156. Tiffanie Yabut saw her score drop as well, finishing tied for thirty second with a 164. Brittany Kennedy also improved her score from day one, finishing with a 227.

Lindenwood won the team title with a 609, as Olivia Sobaski won individual honors. The Griffons will travel to Edmond, Oklahoma on Oct. 3 and 4 for the RCB/Central Oklahoma Classic.
