The National Pork Producers Council is offering a Midwest Agriculture Tour ahead of World Pork Expo.
A two-day tour underwritten by the Illinois Soybean Association will display the diversity of U.S. agriculture from crops to livestock and shipping to agribusiness.
A one-day tour will feature the agricultural areas in and around Des Moines.
The tours include meals and free admission to World Pork Expo. NPPC Director of Producer Services Greg Thornton says the tours offer an opportunity to gain a more intimate look at Iowa and U.S. agriculture. He says tour attendees will be able to visit with farmers and agribusiness experts face to face and gain real-world perspectives to take back home.
Thornton says that’s especially valuable for guests from other countries. He notes it’s that chance to expand global interaction that makes World Pork Expo and these tours unique. NPPC President Randy Spronk says it’s to everyone’s benefit to exchange ideas and learn from each other.
The two-day tour June 3rd and 4th will include visits to Cinnamon Ridge Farm and the Mississippi River - as well as tours of the Kinze Manufacturing plant and the John Deere Harvester Works manufacturing plant. On June 4th - the one-day tour will feature DuPont Pioneer, a visit to Swine Genetics International and a tour of the John Deere Manufacturing facility.
