(NAFB)--Senate Agriculture Committee Chair Debbie Stabenow is calling on House leadership to announce their conferees and officially begin conferencing the Farm Bill before the current extension expires on September 30th. She says it’s time to stop kicking the can down the road and leaving rural America and 16-million jobs hanging in uncertainty. Stabenow notes the Senate has agreed to go to conference and has appointed conferees. As soon as the House decides to do the same - she says Congress can move forward and finish the farm bill. Stabenow does not support another extension. She says it’s bad policy that yields no deficit reduction, no reform and does nothing to help American agriculture create jobs. Stabenow says it’s time to do the work Congress was sent to Washington to do and finally finish the farm bill.
