USDA Provides More Funding to Improve Rural Housing

(NAFB)--USDA Acting Under Secretary for Rural Development Doug O’Brien says providing safe, reliable housing to rural residents is key to maintaining stable communities and creating jobs - which is why USDA has developed strategic partnerships to improve living conditions for thousands of rural residents. Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack announced Tuesday recipients in 45 states, the Western Pacific and Puerto Rico will receive grants through USDA Rural Development’s Housing preservation Grant program to improve those living conditions by making general repairs or providing or enhancing access to people with disabilities - as well as making homes more energy efficient. O’Brien says this is just one more reason Congress must pass a new, comprehensive Food, Farm and Jobs Bill as soon as possible.
