(NAFB)--National Corn Growers Association President Pam Johnson presented NCGA’s President’s Award to Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack Wednesday.
The award is given at NCGA’s Corn Congress meeting in Washington each year to a leader who has worked to advance issues important to corn growers and agriculture. Johnson says Vilsack is a perfect recipient. She says he’s been a steadfast supporter and advocate for American agriculture.
Johnson also calls Vilsack a friend of corn. During his tenure - according to Johnson - Vilsack has worked tirelessly to promote agricultural exports, create a more vibrant rural economy and strengthen the role of farmers. Johnson says the Secretary has spotlighted why those who work in agriculture are important to Americans. She says he has also challenged farmers to tell their own stories and let their voices be heard. Johnson says NCGA has been privileged to work closely with Secretary Vilsack and his staff and looks forward to continuing that relationship.
