(NAFB)--Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack kicked off the 5th Annual Feds Feed Families Campaign Tuesday. Federal employees around the country collect food for distribution by food banks and shelters as part of this annual food drive. Federal government employees nationwide have donated more than 15-million pounds of food through this campaign in the past four years. Vilsack says it’s no surprise the food drive has been so successful - as federal employees are tremendously dedicated to their communities. No matter where you live - Vilsack says there are folks in the community who are working hard, but having trouble putting food on their plate. He says it’s a very real problem that Federal employees in small towns and big cities across the country are ready to help address. This year’s drive officially started June 1st and will continue through August 28th.
