Seminar to Look at Ag Sustainability - Field to Market

(NAFB)--An upcoming National C-FAR (National Coalition for Food and Agricultural Research) hill research seminar will focus on advancing agricultural sustainability practices in the U.S. while meeting future needs.

The presentation will take place Monday (July 15) morning on the Senate side of the Hill - followed by a Lunch-N-Learn seminar on the House side. University of Arkansas Professor Dr. Marty Matlock is the featured speaker. Among other things - Dr. Matlock is Program Director in the Center for Agricultural and Rural Sustainability.

If we are going to feed 9.5-billion people using sustainable ag practices by 2050 - Matlock says we will need to coordinate what we measure, how we measure and why we measure so we can make the most effective decisions to ensure we continue to improve human prosperity for current and future generations. Chuck Conner - National C-FAR President - says the presentation provides an excellent example of the value of federally funded food and agricultural research, extension and education in producing the scientific outcomes and outreach needed to meet 21st Century challenges and opportunities.
