Gas Prices Seem Stuck, But Ethanol Provides Relief

(NAFB)--Ironically - the American Petroleum Institute chose the one-thousandth day of gasoline prices averaging more than three-dollars a gallon to advance its agenda of repealing the Renewable Fuel Standard.

Renewable Fuels Association President and CEO Bob Dinneen says gas prices are now staying at over three-dollars and could continue to increase - but ethanol is a viable and sustainable tool that could stop gas prices from rising at the pump. He says renewable fuel is plentifully available here and now. And if Big Oil would stop putting up barriers to offering E15 and other higher level blends - Dinneen says gas could be even cheaper.

In fact - he notes the estimated discount of E15 is 10 to 15-cents cheaper per gallon than gasoline. RFA says ethanol saved drivers $1.09 per gallon and families roughly 12-hundred dollars in gasoline purchases in 2011.
