Pork Producers Offer Thanksgiving Food Baskets to Needy Families

(NAFB)--The National Pork Producers Council was part of an effort to provide needy families in the Cleveland, Ohio area with Thanksgiving food baskets of ham, turkey and all the trimmings. NPPC was joined by Ohio Representative Marcia Fudge, the Ohio Pork Producers Council and Walmart. Ohio Pork Council Executive Director Dick Isler says NPPC and Ohio pork farmers were honored to work with Congresswoman Fudge to do a small part to help those in need have a great Thanksgiving. This is not the first time Ohio pork farmers have done their part to fight hunger. They’ve donated just over one-million meals of nutritious pork to Ohio foodbanks since 2009. At Easter - they worked with farmers and other industry partners to provide more than 37-thousand pounds of protein-rich ground pork to several state foodbanks in an effort to make sure no Ohio family went without a nutritious, hearty meal. And that’s just the effort of one state pork association. Each year - NPPC’s 43 state pork associations provide hundreds of thousands of pounds of pork to needy people - including victims of tornadoes in Oklahoma and Hurricane Sandy in New Jersey.
