Joe Gray named honorary chair of Ag Expo Campaign

ST. JOSEPH, Mo – Long-time St. Joseph business leader and community philanthropist Joe Gray will serve as the Honorary Chair for the Agri-Business Expo Center capital campaign.

A native of St. Joseph, Mr. Gray earned a bachelor of science degree from the University of Kansas School of Engineering. He returned to St. Joseph to work in his father’s business and developed Gray Manufacturing into the leading manufacturer of lifts for over-the-road trucks, trailers and buses. Mr. Gray serves as chairman of the board for Gray Manufacturing and a sister company, Vektek, which is headquartered in Emporia, Kan., and operates a site in St. Joseph.

Mr. Gray has been actively involved in supporting the Agri-Business Expo Center since its beginning. His family and businesses have also been proud supporters. Gray Manufacturing was the presenting sponsor of Dinner With Baxter Black in March 2013.

An 18-member volunteer committee formed in January and is actively raising funds to build the Agri-Business Expo Center. The 145-acre campus east of St. Joseph will create premier facilities for agriculture education and exhibition and also incorporate a Life Science Park and Commercial Park to promote agribusinesses.
