USGC Looks at DDGS Export Situation to China



(NAFB)--Last week - reports that China may suspend the issuance of new import permits for U.S. distiller’s dried grains with solubles - and require more stringent testing of currently permitted imports for the presence of unapproved biotechnology events - resulted in uncertainty that is rolling trade in the largest U.S. DDGS export market. U.S. Grains Council Chairman Julius Schaaf says such disruptions are costly to U.S. producers and exporters - and end-users and consumers in China. Schaaf says this sort of thing has happened before and reinforces the need for continued engagement with China - the largest export destination for U.S. DDGS - to work out solutions.
