ATCHISON COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a suspect for leaving the scene of an accident and other allegations.
Just after 10:30p.m. Monday, a Mercury Sable driven by Jesse Ferris, 34, Atchison, was northbound in the 800 Block of 9th Street in Atchison, according to Atchison Police Chief Mike Wilson.
The car struck the utility pole on the west side of the street. The pole fell on top of the vehicle and the driver fled the area. Officers found Ferris, a short time later at a residence and he was accused of leaving the scene of the accident and driving while suspended and issued a notice to appear in court. He was not injured.
Some residents were without power until Evergy replaced the utility pole and restored power, according to Wilson.
