Buchanan County fire crews are battling a grass fire near Sugar Lake in Buchanan County.
The Missouri Highway Patrol Troop H was notified of the fire around 1:45pm today (Thu.) The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
Buchanan County Sheriff Bill Puett reports around 4pm, the fire had begun to spread south into Platte County, due to high winds making the fire difficult to control.
Drivers are advised to avoid the area of 45 Highway near the Sugar Lake area. Residents are advised to evacuate the area if necessary.
