Mo. man injured after Jeep strikes dog, overturns down embankment

CALDWELL COUNTY —One person was injured in an accident just before 5:30a.m. Friday in Caldwell County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 1998 Jeep Cherokee driven by Alex D. Parkhurst, 27, Chillicothe, was eastbound on U.S. 36 three miles east of Hamilton.

The driver swerved to avoid a large dog. The Jeep struck the dog in the road and then skidded off the right side of the road down an embankment, struck a box culvert and overturned.

A private vehicle transported Parkhurst to Hedrick Medical Center. He was properly restrained, according to the MSHP.
