Andre Pallante struck out a season high seven batters and for the first time since 2022 the St. Louis Cardinals have won seven games in a row after beating the Washington Nationals 4-2 on Saturday afternoon.
The Cardinals had benefited from lockdown pitching recently, including back-to-back shutouts as part of a 21-inning scoreless streak. Pallante continued the latter trend Saturday, with a season-high 7.1 innings of two-run ball on three hits, zero walks and the seven strikeouts.
St. Louis put up all the runs they needed early with a four run second inning. Willson Contreras was hit by a pitch and Alec Burleson walked before Pedro Pagés singled to score Contreras, Nolan Gorman advancing to second base after reaching first on a fielders choice. Victor Scott II’s single drove in Gorman and Lars Nootbaar followed that with a double to bring home Pagés and Scott II.

The RBI base knock extended Scott’s hitting streak to a career-high 10 games. During the streak, Scott is hitting .387 (12-for-31) with one home run, seven RBIs, seven runs and two stolen bases. The Nationals scored both their runs in the bottom of the eighth inning on a two run home run by Dylan Crews.
St. Louis and Washington wrap up their series tomorrow. Miles Mikolas takes the mound for the Cardinals against MacKenzie Gore for the Nationals. First pitch is at 12:35pm, pregame coverage will be joined at 12:25 on KY 102 (102.5 FM).
