The Kansas City Royals struggles with runners in scoring position have persisted, as the team went 0-for-5, and were outslugged in the south side of Chicago by the White Sox, falling 4-1 on Saturday afternoon.
Vinnie Pasquantino gave the Royals their lone run of the game, and the lead in the second inning, hitting his tenth home run of the season to right field. But in the bottom half of the inning, the White Sox took the lead back as Tim Elko slugged a two run home run to center field, driving in Josh Rojas who doubled in the inning, giving Chicago a 2-1 lead.

Chase Meidroth’s solo home run to lead off the third inning extended the lead for the White Sox, before they added the final run in the eighth inning, a sacrifice fly by Edgar Quero driving in Miguel Vargas.
Despite recording yet another quality start, Michael Wacha took the loss for the Royals, falling to 3-5 on the season, pitching six innings and giving up six hits and three runs, striking out five batters and walking one. At the plate, Pasquantino was 3-for-3 with the home run.
Kansas City looks to avoid the sweep as they wrap up their series with Chicago tomorrow. Michael Lorenzen (3-6, 5.12 ERA) will start for the Royals against Mike Vasil (3-2, 1.89 ERA) for the White Sox. First pitch is at 1:10pm, pregame coverage begins at 12:30 on KFEQ (680AM/95.3FM).
