Dennis “Denny” Allan Patton, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2025, at the age of 70. Born on July 17, 1954, in Kansas City, Missouri, Denny lived a life full of love, laughter, and meaningful moments.
Denny is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 51 years, Sheryl Patton. Together, they built a life rooted in love, laughter, and adventure, marrying on September 14, 1974. Over the decades, they traveled the country, side by side, spending many summers on the lake with the girls, cherishing every journey and memory they made.
His daughters and their families also survive him: Lesley and Marshall Morey, and grandchildren Darian, Wyatt, and Aubrey; Megan and Kyle Chapman, and grandson Easton; and Stacey and John Warner, and grandchildren Leightyn and Carter, and five siblings. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Carolyn Patton.
Denny dedicated 36 years of hard work to General Motors before retiring and embracing life on the road in their RV with Aspen, their beloved “wonder dog.” He loved boating, fishing, homemade pizza making, and golfing or tending to his yard. His homegrown putting green and creative mole-control methods were legendary, as was his constant hum of tunes as he walked around the house, always singing or whistling.
A dedicated father, Denny coached many of his daughters’ sports teams and never missed a chance to support his grandchildren in their activities. He was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan and a proud season ticket holder for many years, cheering with unwavering passion.
Denny was known for his quick wit, kind heart, and the joy he found in life’s simple pleasures—like his signature PB&J wraps or a slice of cheesecake. His love, humor, and warmth will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at 6:30 PM at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home in Smithville, MO. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Denny’s life, share memories, and honor the legacy he leaves behind.
