With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of David Lyle Troutman, who died on June 26, 2025, in Kansas City, Missouri, at the age of 62.

David was born on March 21, 1963, in Inglewood, California, to Fred and Marilyn Troutman. He grew up with a love for music and began playing the drums at just 14 years old. Known early on as “Little Dave,” he got his start performing with the Union Mill Opry, where his natural talent and infectious energy quickly earned him a place in the hearts of local audiences.

He graduated from North Platte High School and continued his musical journey at Missouri Western State College, where he played in the college band and further developed his gift for percussion. Over the years, David performed with various bands, including Silverstone, becoming a respected and familiar face in Missouri’s music scene.

David was more than a musician — he was a connector of people. Outgoing and kind, he never knew a stranger. Whether through music, conversation, or small everyday gestures, he made others feel seen, heard, and welcomed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Marilyn Troutman. He is survived by his brother, Richard Troutman, and sister- in-law, Ocena Troutman, along with a wide circle of extended family and dear friends who will miss him deeply.

A Memorial Visitation to celebrate David’s life will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 30th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home in Smithville. Friends and family are invited to gather and honor the life of a man who lived with rhythm, heart, and unwavering kindness.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in David’s memory to City Union Mission 1100 East 11th Street, Kansas City, MO 64106.

David Lyle Troutman will be lovingly remembered — not just for the music he made, but for the joy, warmth, and connection he brought to all who knew him.
