Department of Conservation to host Black Bear Presentation Friday

By Jim Faris

Missouri’s Department of Natural Resources is hosting a free event to inform Missourians on black bears.

MDC’s “Black Bears of Missouri” features information on black bear behavior, as well as how to prevent conflicts and coexist with the powerful creatures. It will also feature tips on how to keep bears from getting too comfortable around neighborhoods.

Experts estimate more than a thousand black bears live in Missouri, with an increase on nearly 90 bears per year. Most of them are found in the more mountainous southern regions of the state.

The event is this Friday, July 25th, from 1-2 p.m. Those interested can register HERE.
