One arrested in Sunday St. Joseph shooting incident

St. Joseph Police have charged Romeloe Kevonte Ballard in a shooting incident early Sunday afternoon.

The St. Joseph Police Department reports officers responded to a call shortly after noon Sunday in the 200 block of North 8th Street. Officers discovered signs of shooting at an apartment complex at 210 North 8th Street.

Officers encountered Ballard near the doorway of an apartment and after refusing commands, he was taken into custody. Officers found several shell casings and the firearm was recovered.

Ballard was charged with Unlawful Use of a Weapon by the Buchanan County Prosecutors Office. Ballard is currently being held at the Buchanan County Jail on a $10,000 cash-only bond.

The St. Joseph Police Department would like to thank residents for their cooperation as officers safely resolved the incident.
