By MATT PIKE

Kansas City Royals General Manager JJ Picollo has confirmed that some team members in Venezuela are safe following the recent U.S. raid in Caracas.

Picollo has been in contact with the players, including Salvador Perez and Maikel Garcia  and their families, ensuring their well-being. The Royals are also checking on the status many of their Minor League players in Venezuela during the offseason.

The Venezuelan Professional Baseball League suspended its playoffs after the raid, which led to the capture of President Maduro and his wifem but is set to resume play on Wednesday.
