MidCity Excellence Community Learning Center will celebrate its 25th anniversary during the 12th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Solutions Summit on Monday, Jan. 19.
The summit, themed “A Homecoming of Excellence,” is scheduled for 11 a.m. at MYC/Word of Life, 3902 NE Riverside Road in St. Joseph.
Doors open at 10:30 a.m. for a complimentary brunch. The event is free and open to the public.
This year’s program features a panel of MCE alumni who will discuss their personal journeys toward becoming workforce-ready and remaining opioid-free. Organizers said the discussion is intended to highlight the long-term impact of the organization’s mission and trauma-informed programming.
“For 25 years, MidCity Excellence has been committed to empowering youth and families through education, mentorship, and community support,” MCE leadership said in a statement. “This summit is both a celebration of how far we’ve come and a call to continue building solutions together.”
The event serves as a milestone for the organization, which has provided a quarter-century of service to local children and families. Participants will also reflect on the legacy of King, specifically his message that “the time is always right to do what is right.”
While the event is free, participants are encouraged to RSVP by Jan. 9.
