Former St. Louis Cardinals backstop Yadier Molina is returning to the team, this time with a special role in the front office assisting new President of baseball operations Chaim Bloom
In this role, Molina will work with the team’s catchers in training and player development, as well as collaborate with the front office executive. After his time in St. Louis, Molina managed Puerto Rico in World Baseball Classic and Caribbean Series. He was also a guest coach during two Cardinals series last year.
The Cardinals organization is excited to welcome Molina, who during his time in St. Louis was a two-time World Series champion and nine-time Gold Glove winner, back to allow a young roster to benefit from his expertise and championship mindset.
Molina, a retired player, has expressed interest in managing at the major-league level and will use this new role to mentor young catchers and provide valuable feedback.
