Sixth graders at Maryville Middle School learned about the Chinese New Year with the help of local restaurant owners, Gordon Chen and Jessie Ye, owners of Happy Garden. The students were able to learn about the holiday through the experiences and knowledge of their classmate, Aiden Chen. Social studies teacher Leanna Lightfoot reached out to the restaurant owners to help her students prepare for the Chinese New Year, which began on Tuesday. The owners enthusiastically joined in the effort to educate the students about the holiday.
