Brown County Register of Deeds Nellie Brockhoff is set to retire after 38 years of service, with Deputy Register of Deeds Deana Long appointed as Acting Register of Deeds effective March 2. Long will fulfill all duties until a successor is appointed by the Governor as per Kansas law. The county Republican Precinct Committee will nominate a candidate to serve until the November general election, with the winner serving until January 2029.
