At a recent St. Joseph Board of Education meeting, concerns were raised about the process of selling district buildings, specifically Pershing and Field elementary schools. Assistant superintendent Robert Hedgecorth outlined three possible paths for selling the properties, including selling directly to the city or county, putting out a request for proposals, or selling to the highest bidder. Board member Whitney Lanning proposed including restrictions in any sale to prevent the buildings from being used in ways that would compete with the district, but the motion ultimately failed in a 2-5 vote.
