After 31 years of service with the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Troop H Commanding Captain Shawn P. Skoglund has announced his retirement at the beginning of next month.
Skoglund joined the Patrol as a member of the 69th Recruit Class on Jan. 1st, 1995. After graduating from the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy, he was assigned to Troop B, Zone 10 in Randolph County. He was then transferred to Troop H and was assigned to Zone 2 in Nodaway County on June 1st, 1998. Skoglund was promoted to “Corporal” on Jan. 1st, 2000, and transferred to Troop H, Zone 1 in Holt and Atchison counties.
Skoglund was promoted to “Sergeant” and designated zone supervisor for Zone 9 in Livingston County on Oct. 20th, 2002, and then on n January 1st, 2014, he was promoted to “Lieutenant” and became a member of Troop H Command Staff. He became “Captain” and was designated commanding officer of Troop H on December 1st, 2022.
