St. Joseph area residents donated more than 20,000 school supplies during the 17th annual Stuff the Bus campaign operated by the Greater St. Joseph United Way.

The United Way also reports residents donated more than $2,000 to purchase school supplies for needy children before the school year begins. Residents have donated more than 300,000 school supplies since the United Way began launched Stuff the Bus in 2009.

School supplies will be distributed through United Way Partner Agencies and Programs including, the Salvation Army.

Mosaic Life Care sponsored the event in which First Student school buses were parked in front of the North Belt and South Belt Walmart stores. The St. Joseph School District supplied lists of supplies for shoppers unsure what to buy.

Families who may need assistance with school supplies are encouraged to call The Salvation Army at 816-232-5824 to learn more about their school supply distribution which will take place at August 7, 2025.
