In the latest round of it’s bi weekly girls basketball polls, the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association has voted and the Lafayette girls basketball team has claimed the top spot in Class 4.
The Lady Irish moved up from #2 to #1, with 71 points in this week’s poll. The Benton Lady Cardinals also moved up a spot from #8 to #7, with 31 points, still trailing Chillicothe who also moved up a spot from #7 to #6 with 38 points. After only receiving votes in the last poll, Savannah made it’s way into the polls at #10 with 13 points.
The polls were voted on prior to the Kearney Tournament championship game between Benton and Lafayette. A shakeup could be seen on the next round when they are released on February 2nd. The MBCA releases the girls and boys polls every other week, alternating between each.
In the Class 3 ranks, the Mid-Buchanan girls fell down four spots to #9 with 16 points. In Class 1, the Rock Port girls jumped up to the top spot as well, moving above Chadwick, sitting #1 with 74 points. Once again in Class 1, the Mound City girls received votes, but remained unranked.
