The integration and expanded education surrounding Naloxone in Missouri have led to a decline in overdose-related deaths, with 629 deaths reported in the first six months of 2025. The availability of Naloxone, including through Narcan vending machines, has been a major factor in reducing overdose deaths. Law enforcement agencies are working to target fentanyl distribution, which continues to be the primary cause of drug overdose deaths in Missouri. Efforts are also being made to educate youth on the dangers of drug usage and provide assistance for those struggling with addiction. The St. Joseph Health Department and Family Guidance Center offer free Naloxone to those in need.
