
Rich Claycomb, 68, Agency, Missouri, passed away Friday, May 1, 2026. He documented his journey with esophageal cancer and shared it online to help others, gaining followers from across the country.
He was born August 6, 1957 in St. Joseph to Jay and Deloris (Simpson) Claycomb. He grew up in St. Joseph and graduated from Central High School.
Starting as a child, Rich had a need for speed and adventure, which he fulfilled through competitive motorcycle racing and hill-climbing. This passion did not subside with age, as he continued to love riding his Harley, and taught his grandchildren how to ride and shoot.
Rich rehabbed houses for many years, finishing his career as a home inspector. He also was owner/operator of Top Dog Shooters in Agency, where he met many new friends among the 6,000 concealed-carry students he taught.
Rich married Tami Oliver on July 14, 2005. They shared 25 years of love and adventure with their blended family.
Rich was well-known in the community for his animal advocacy. He loved animals and did whatever he could to help them, including building more than 200 dog and cat houses a year for many years, providing pet food for others, and helping catch and neuter stray cats.
He leaves a legacy for his family and community of love, hard work and selflessness, as well as countless memories to treasure.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Josh Oliver.
Survivors include his wife, Tami; children, Melinda Claycomb, Melanie Henggeler (“Opie”), and Jamie Christensen (Aaron); grandchildren, Cole Henggeler, Cade Henggeler (Stephanie), Dalanie Davison (Kyle), Lane Acklin, and Maddox Oliver; great-grandchildren, Rhett and Wacey; brothers, Larry Claycomb (Teresa) and Scott Claycomb (Shirley); and nieces and a nephew.
Farewell Services and Public Livestream 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, Frederick Boulevard Baptist Church. The family will gather with friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. The family asks that attendees wear Top Dog Shooters shirts if they have one.
