With heavy hearts and cherished memories, we honor the life of a beloved man Randy Schuster known simply and lovingly as “PePa.” He was a devoted grandfather, a steady presence, and a source of joy and adventure for his family.

He was born on December 14, 1964 to Harold “Shorty” and Dorothy (Silvey) Schuster in St. Joseph, MO. Randy grew up in Gower and graduated East Buchanan High School.

Randy worked for Western Missouri Correctional Center in St. Joseph as a lieutenant and was planning to retire in December.

Randy found his greatest happiness in time spent with his grandchildren. Whether it was packing up for family vacations or sitting proudly in the stands, he never missed an opportunity to be part of their lives. He could often be found cheering at baseball, soccer, and karate tournaments, his pride shining with every game, match, and milestone. An outdoorsman at heart, Randy loved deer hunting and fishing-moments of quiet reflection that he cherished just as much as the lively times with family. He also enjoyed mushroom hunting, always eager for the next walk in the woods and the simple pleasures nature provided. At home and among friends, PePa had a knack for playing pool, sharing laughter and stories around the table. But nothing compared to the joy he felt watching his grandkids play football, supporting them with unwavering encouragement and love. Randy’s legacy is one of devotion, warmth, and presence. He showed up for the big moments and the small ones and in doing so, created memories that will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always loved.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harold “Shorty” Schuster.

Randy is survived by his Sweet Pea, Penny McCown; children, Crystal (Travis) Hollars, Clayton (Tasha) Dennis, and Cody (Devon) Dennis; grandchildren, Kade, Jenna, Trinity, Calvin, Sloane, Staussy, Judge, Duffy, Lakota, Denver, and Abilene; great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Watson; his mother, Dorothy Schuster; sister, Vicky (Ron) McCoy; brother, Dave (Dana) Schuster; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
